We’re excited to share with you an exciting new development in the ministry of Journey Quest. After much prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction, Journey Quest has agreed to purchase Vessels for Honor Rafting Company.
Vessels for Honor was founded 9 years ago by Dwight & Sandy Grant, and is based out of the Texas Creek Junction on the Arkansas River. Vessels has become well-respected experts at running two of Colorado’s most exciting stretches of whitewater: Bighorn Sheep Canyon and the Royal Gorge.
The name Vessels For Honor comes from the Biblical passage in 2 Timothy 2:21, “Therefore, if any man cleanses himself from these things he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the master, prepared for every good work” (NASB). Vessels for Honor was founded to reflect Dwight & Sandy’s passion for Jesus Christ and their commitment to integrity and excellence. Journey Quest is excited about the heritage of this company and looks forward to continuing this legacy into the future.
Journey Quest will continue Dwight’s vision by providing exciting rafting trips on the Arkansas River under the Vessels for Honor name. In addition, we will offer customized and purposeful trips that are designed to draw each person into a personal and vibrant walk with Jesus Christ. These single and multi-day trips will use adventures such as rafting, rock climbing, mountaineering, and backpacking as tools to bring out teachable moments and bring the conversation back to the person and work of Jesus Christ. We are thankful for how God has used Dwight, Sandy, and their excellent staff to build this company to be such a great tool for ministry and we look forward to how God will use Journey Quest and Vessels for Honor to encourage many people to draw near to Himself for many years into the future.
While this is a major milestone for the development of Journey Quest, there is much work to be done to be ready for the summer of 2012. Please pray for Dwight, Sandy, and for Journey Quest as we seek to glorify Christ through this transition. We look forward to seeing you on the river, the rock, or on the mountain in the future!
