Do you often get stuck in life and feel like you don’t have much of purpose where you are. Maybe we ask God to give us purpose with where we are. Maybe we ask for our entire life to change so we can realize our purpose. We start thinking of our purpose as what we can do, rather than what God can do through us. We start thinking if we get to a certain place in our lives we would have a bigger purpose. The deal is, we all have the same purpose in life, and we can’t fulfill it by doing anything unique or special.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” – Matthew 22:37
That’s our purpose, to love God with everything we have. We don’t need any specific job to do this or a certain number of friends. We don’t need large bank accounts, college degrees, or special skills to accomplish this. All we need to do is love God. That’s our purpose, and it always will be our purpose. So, how do we love God? We bring honor and glory to Him. We completely surrender ourselves to Him. We rejoice in who He is and give thanks for what He has done. When we think of loving others, how do we do this? We spend time with them, serve them, complement them, and get to know them more sincerely, not just what others say about them. That’s how we love God. Spend time with Him, sing praises, serve Him, and get to know Him. We may feel like we love God with everything we have, but still feel like we need a purpose for being here on earth. We need to do something here on earth to have a purpose.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:39
It’s as simple as that. Our purpose is to love God and love others. We don’t need any changes in our lives to receive a purpose; we just have to fulfill it. God placed all the stars in the sky and gave them a purpose of illuminating the night sky with beauty. He placed you on earth to illuminate His love to others. How do we start? Well, how do you want to be loved? Figure that out and do lots of that to everyone. I feel most loved when people are intentional with me and make time to talk with me. If I want to love others the same way I feel love, I would be intentional and make time to talk to them. Pay attention as well. Not everyone will feel this love in the same way you do. Some feel most loved when you give compliments, serve them, or give them gifts. First, love others the same way you would feel most loved and then learn to love others in the way they most feel loved.
If you feel like you don’t have a purpose, remember your purpose is to love God and love others. This week, seek to fulfill that purpose. Stop looking for your purpose in jobs, school, or friends, but rather what God calls you to do. This week, seek to love God more sincerely. Strive to build your relationship with God. Look to love those that are around you. Love them the way you would want to be loved. Our purpose is love. Love God, Love People, and everything else will fall into place.
